I had the pleasure of being a vendor at the Stitch Rock indie craft fair this past Saturday. This is my second time participating, and it's just a lovely venue. The show is held in this historical gymnasium with a beautiful basketball wooden court and loft for the spectators, located in the Old School Square in Delray Beach. Amanda Linton who heads this event is absolutely wonderful; she is well-organized and very helpful. 

As always, my experience was amazing. I had lots of fun and made lots of sales (yay!). Here are some pics of my spot.

As opposed to last year, I was outside this time. Thankfully it wasn't too hot and there was a breeze, so overall, it was great being outdoors. I had the chance to meet some wonderful event-goers and bumped into some very talented crafters/vendors like Maria from Miss BittyKnacks who makes the cutest lil' things!  As always, I hope to participate in next year's event! Farewell Hiatus!

Hello again! There's been a lot that happened in the last two months which kept me away. One main reason was that I moved to a new apartment and I was basically overwhelmed for awhile. I also had to focus on a show I had in February called the Retro Indie Market up in Boynton Beach. The location was in this historical women's club (the name escapes me now) but it was perfect for the show's vintage and retro-inspired theme.

 

 

 

 

This show has been my favorite so far. Having my sister there as my helper made it even more special. I'll be posting regularly from now on. It's great to be back! Sue

Stitch Rock's Birthday Show

Last week, SeeSueStitch participated for the 1st time in the Stitch Rock Craft Fair at the Old School Square in Delray Beach. My sister came along with me and we were both floored by the venue and myriad of wonderfully talented artists and crafters. What also impressed us were the special little details like the swag bags they made for the sellers and the cute party favors to celebrate the day. They made the cutest wooden brooches with Paper Sparrow's animal design lasered right on to them (lovely!). Midway through the festivities, there was a fashion show and they even served us cake! What a treat!

 

 

 

 

My sister was the best helper ever! And I was really lucky to have some awesome vendors/neighbors around me like Elisa Gomez (she makes gorgeous jewelry!), I Work Artwork (amazing crochet plushies!), The Hemp Butterfly (awesome hand-knotted jewelry!), and Sea of Bees (the most original jewelry pieces I've ever seen!). All in all, it was truly an amazing experience. This is definitely a show I hope to do again next year! Sue

Go Stitch Rock!

So excited to share that SeeSueStitch got accepted to the Stitch Rock craft fair which takes place this coming October in Delray Beach. I'm definitely pumped and have a lot of work ahead of me (can't wait)! Sue

Memorial Day

Going to the Arlington Cemetery was quite humbling. Since it was Memorial Weekend there were droves of veterans walking around paying tribute to their fallen brothers. There are sections of the cemetery that go as far back as the American Revolution and Civil War. Two presidents are buried there: Kennedy (which I got to see) and Taft. I was also able to catch the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknowns which is done every 30 minutes of every day year-round. T

he cemetery had placed an individual flag on every single tombstone (the tour guide had stated over 300,000 are buried at the cemetery). As I walked along the tombs, I was fascinated to read about soldiers who had participated consecutively in World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars (many awarded the purple heart). On this day, I thank these soldiers for their courage and dedication. I will always remember. Sue

Spring Fling Recap

What a hoot! My 2nd time around at the Indie Craft Bazaar was amazing! I got the chance to mingle with a wonderful mix of very talented sellers, and felt the handmade support from all the lovely customers (SeeSueStitch's dollys were a hit!). I think the best part of going to these shows is meeting on-line friends like LeeLee; she is sooo sweet and her booth was super cute! During the downtime, I was able to snap some pics of my table stand: I had all the intentions of capturing many of the wonderful sellers at the show, but to my dismay, my camera's battery died (I forgot to charge it!!). Oh well, I'll be sure to never make that mistake again! I'm planning on posting a lot of new cozys and change purses onto my shop, so stay tuned later this week for a shop update! Talk soon, Sue

Indie Craft Bazaar - Spring Fling

Hey, guess what? It's that time to support handmade with SeeSueStitch! I'm so excited to be participating again in the Indie Craft Bazaar. This will be my 2nd year there and I've been furiously working to get as many projects completed before D-day (aka April 17th!). Howl at the School

This year I dressed up as a werewolf at my school. Being a child of the 80s, the movie "Teen Wolf" was an inspiration and Michael J. Fox helped me channel my inner-wolf persona. I sported ray bans, a lumber jack shirt (think twilight), black jeans, and black hightop converse. My students didn't even recognize me . . . what fun!

She's Crafty . . . and Terrified!

I have to admit that the 1st emotion I felt as I woke up on the morning of the craft show was fear. It sounds silly, but I was truly frightened. A myriad of questions were swirling through my head - what if no one likes my dolls, what if I don't sell, what if, what if, what if, what if.

Obviously, this fear was based on my own insecurities. Thinking about it now, I see that having an on-line shop, your buyers are residing almost in an invisible world, direct interaction just isn't there, but at a craft show everything is exposed. I'd know in person how potential customers would react to my items and that scared me.

Once I got there my fear changed to bubblling excitement. I went about setting up and prepared for whatever came my way. Here are some pics of my table and of the venue.

The venue was small but was the perfect starter's kit for a rookie like me. I really loved every minute of the show, even despite the hot and sometimes rainy weather that day(thankfully the venue was covered). I accomplished the goals I had set out: gain exposure (I ran out of my business cards!), gather experience, and get a feel for what potential customers like and don't like. Everyone was really warm and receptive with my dolls and I made several sales, so all in all it was a super day!
