I love going on road trips, but the one I enjoy most taking is when I drive up to Fort Myers to visit my family. I had the chance to spend time with my mum and dad. In the afternoons, my sister and I went thrift store shopping, and in the evenings we baked or crafted . . . so much fun! It was truly the most relaxing week of the summer I've had so far.
One thing that stood out about the trip was how my mum decorated the guest room. There were photos of my sister and I as kids, and curios that I had made many moons ago displayed throughout the room. It was really sweet to see how my mum cherishes the littlest of things . . . that's a mother for ya!
My sister's the one in pigtails and I'm in the bonnet. I hadn't realized it, but I'm wearing a green crocheted skirt, so cute!
These houses were originally made for our nativity scene. My mum was big on setting up an elaborate setting with mini towns and farms surrounding the manger. I despised the cardboard homes she'd use, so I made these for her. I used balsa wood and designed, cut, glued and handpainted each tiny home. I was about 16 at the time(I think).
After graduating high school, I studied ceramics for close to 2 years. This plaque was one of the 1st pieces I made. It's the facade of my old home; seems like I was fascinated with housing structures back then!
