My 1st Craft Show

I'm so excited about this show. So many things to do in such little time! I think I work best under pressure! If you live in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area stop by and support handmade!!

FlugTag 2010 in Miami!

FlugTag had come to Miami back in 2004 and I had missed it, but I promised myself that the next tour I wouldn't miss and I kept my promise.

Just in case you don't know what I'm talking about, I'll sum it up as briefly as I can. Flugtag is an event that is sponsored by Red Bull (yeah, that drink that gives you wings). It lets anyone -crazy enough- create their own flying contraption and test it off a 30 ft high deck. Most teams don't make the distance, but it sure is fun to watch them crash into the ocean!

The event didn't start until 12 noon but most people head out early to find a good place for viewing. Unfortunately, my bf and I didn't get there until 11, so by that time it was slim pickings. Eventhough I couldn't get any decent shots of the teams launching off the deck, we did score a perfect spot right by where all the gliders were parked.

It's amazing and also a little sad to see the amount of work put into these gliders, knowing that they'll be completely decimated once they hit the water. Here are some of my best shots:

I hope you enjoyed the pics. I loved every minute of Flugtag. To my dismay, we did have to leave early (the scorching heat was just unbearable!), so we didn't get to see all 30 teams fly (!). Happy Belated 4th!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend full of fun, fireworks, family and friends. This was definitely a crazy weekend for me with lots of ups and downs. Unfortunately, Miami's weather was a real wash out for the fireworks display that I was hoping to see with my bf, nonetheless we made the best out of the day! Here's my weekend in a nutshell:

I got a chance to complete a set of new gals for a custom order I had pending. This is one the gals. Isn't she sweet?

I sewed a set of 6 burp cloths all on Saturday morning. I love the yellow gingham and aqua prints I found, it contrasts great with the yellow chenille.

I'd been pining for strawberry shortcake and this recipe was quick, easy, and absolutely yummy! The only thing I tweeked was the amount of milk (start with half a cup!). It was a perfect 4th of July dessert!

On Sunday, my bf competed in a hot dog eating contest. I love the before and after pics. He was so pumped up at the start, but after the 5th or 6th hot dog he looked miserable. Amazingly enough, he got 2nd place (he ate 9 dogs)!
