Hello again! As promised, I'm back to share some more creative and budget-friendly ways of making super bulletin board displays!
One thing I've learned - take your existing stash and just change it up! I reused my egg-yolk fabric and quilted stars border to display my students' charters (we were learning about the 13 colonies). On coffee-stained paper, I had my students write their charters with ink we made in class; they used real goose quills I found at the dollar store (pack of 4). For the feathers, I found some clipart on-line and printed it on construction paper. Total cost: $5
I've always thought that "Dancing With the Stars" is a fun show, and when my students created dance step patterns to illustrate their understanding on a story's problem and solution, I knew I could incorporate this dance theme into my display. I used a black fabric which I already had for the background, ready-made borders ($1 find!), silver pipe-cleaner (used to make the glimmer from the disco ball), kraft paper, all-purpose glue, and silver glitter for the disco ball. Total cost: $1 (everything else I already had)
These two ideas are great when you don't have a lot of space in your classroom which is the case with me. My room is a bit on the small side, so I need to make the best of the wall space I have. Delineate parts of your wall by creating faux displays, the strategy I like to use is with corkboard squares or kraft paper. Cork can be expensive (a set of 4 large squares is $15-$20) but they're a good investment because they last and can be used for different purposes and displayed in various ways. Kraft paper is a cheaper alternative and can be set up and taken down quickly. As seen in my pic above, you can make pretty in-class displays that are original and space-saving.
